I tend to help brands in one of two ways.

01

One-off project

Leveraging 20 years of expertise working with small, medium, and large companies across a diverse range of design disciplines, I am a gun for hire, ready to tackle any challenge.

02

Set up or grow a brand

Support tailored to your business needs. Whether you’re looking for a one-off consultation or a dedicated creative team, I can help. If you have specific requirements, now could be the perfect time for a call or coffee.

Here’s how I typically approach growing or establishing a brand:

  1. Analysis

I listen, learn, and gain a deep understanding of you or your brand — exploring the why, what, and how.

  2. Strategy & Planning

I identify opportunities and develop a strategic plan to drive creative improvements across your business.

  3. Creative Direction

I design and guide your business using creative thinking, marketing strategies, system design, and brand development.

What does Alex Hammond do?

Alex Hammond is a designer by training who starts, builds and runs businesses of his own — including the creative agency StudioHammond, Wainford & The Silo and LandGrid — and helps other small and medium-sized companies do the same, as an advisor or non-executive director, a fractional creative director, and through talks.

Who has Alex worked with?

Independent producers and global brands, including Flint Vineyard, Fen Farm Dairy, John Lewis & Partners, Ted Baker, Paul Smith, Louis Poulsen, Philips Design, Adidas and Tuborg.

How does a project work?

Either as a one-off project, or as ongoing support to set up or grow a brand. The usual approach runs in three stages: analysis, strategy and planning, then creative direction.

What results has the work delivered?

Fen Farm Dairy was awarded Best Cheese Brand in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and grew direct-to-consumer sales tenfold in five years. Flint Vineyard went from a kitchen-table brand to a successful investment round in 2024.

Where is Alex based?

Alex splits his time between East Sussex, London and Suffolk, and works with clients across the UK.
